The AZ24S2 is built around a lively, well-balanced Alder body that provides enhanced resonance and a bright, clear mid-range. It features a heat-treated one-piece Roasted Maple neck that dramatically increases stability, durability, and resistance to humidity or temperature changes. The neck sports a comfortable AZ profile paired with a smooth Jatoba fingerboard, utilizing a Super All Access Neck Joint that shaves away the heel for effortless reach all the way up to the 24th fret.

When the alter switch disables power tap mode, the 5-way selector operates through standard configurations: the neck position selects the full neck humbucker; the second position combines the inner coils of both pickups; the center position runs both full humbuckers together; the fourth position combines the outer coils of both pickups; and the bridge position activates the full bridge humbucker.

When the alter switch engages power tap mode, the wiring alters the signal behavior across the same selector positions: the neck position runs the neck pickup in a fat, single-coil-like power tap voicing; the second position isolates just the inner coil of the neck pickup; the center position combines both neck and bridge pickups together in full power tap mode; the fourth position isolates just the outer coil of the bridge pickup; and the bridge position delivers the bridge pickup in power tap mode.

With the guitar held in the playing position, there is one knob and one switch along the lower edge of the body. Closest to the knee cutout is the five-way pickup selector switch. Closest to the end of the body is the tone knob. The volume knob is located right above the five-way pickup selector switch. Between the volume and tone knobs is the alter switch.
