ProMark Dan Fyffe Rattan Series Phenolic Brass Poly Mallets (DFP600 DFP610 DFP620 DFP630 DFP640)
The ProMark Dan Fyffe (DFP) series consists of specialized mallets designed primarily for mallet percussion instruments like xylophones, bells, and glockenspiels, featuring rattan handles for flexibility and comfort.
The main differences between the DFP600, DFP610, DFP620, DFP630, and DFP640 are the head material (Phenolic, Brass, or Poly) and the head diameter (1" or 1 1/8"), which affect the weight, attack, and tone of the mallet.
ProMark DFP600 (1" Phenolic): Features a 1-inch phenolic head, offering a medium-hard attack suitable for xylophone or bells/glockenspiel.
ProMark DFP610 (1 1/8" Phenolic): Uses a larger 1 1/8-inch phenolic head, providing extra weight for a harder attack compared to the DFP600.
ProMark DFP620 (Brass): Designed with a brass head, this mallet is intended for a much harder, brighter, and more articulated sound, often used for maximum projection.
ProMark DFP630 (1" Poly): Features a 1-inch poly (plastic) head. It offers a warm yet articulate tone and is ideal for smaller playing areas.
ProMark DFP640 (1 1/8" Poly): Features a larger 1 1/8-inch poly head. This provides extra weight and a darker, yet still articulate, tone suitable for glockenspiel or xylophone.
