Sober | Pioneer DJ Deck Experience for All @ 1.618 Roastery

On 19 July 2025, 1.618 Roastery in Georgetown, Penang turned into an interactive music space with the Pioneer DJ Sober Deck Experience, inviting customers and music lovers to explore the world of DJing in a cozy café setting.

This unique showcase transformed the coffee shop into a creative hub for music lovers, offering a refreshing new way to experience DJ culture.

Organized in collaboration between 1.618 Roastery and Sober, the event embraced the concept of enjoying music in a relaxed, daytime, and non-alcoholic setting.

Hands-On with Pioneer DJ Decks

The highlight of the day was the full Pioneer DJ setup, powered by AlphaTheta, where participants could try mixing, scratching, and learning the basics of DJ performance. Guided by experienced DJs, everyone had the chance to get on the decks and experience the thrill of live mixing.

Community & Connection

The event drew a mix of regular café customers, local music lovers, and a few DJ players who came together to enjoy the unique setting. The atmosphere remained relaxed and welcoming, with people connecting casually over coffee while experiencing the energy of live DJ performances. It showed that even in a simple setting, music can create meaningful shared moments.

Coffee Meets Music

Blending coffee culture with DJ artistry, the event created a fresh and welcoming atmosphere. Guests enjoyed their brews while beats filled the roastery, showing how music and lifestyle can seamlessly come together.

A Collaboration of Coffee & Culture

The partnership between 1.618 Roastery and Sober highlighted the potential of coffeehouses as cultural venues. By merging artisanal coffee with curated music, the event encouraged daytime socializing and proved that a vibrant music experience doesn’t need alcohol or a traditional nightlife setting. This fresh approach resonated with attendees who appreciated both the artistry of the DJs and the craft of specialty coffee.

Engaging & Interactive

Far from being a spectator event, the experience encouraged participation. From curious newcomers to aspiring DJs, everyone got involved — making it a memorable and inspiring afternoon at 1.618 Roastery.

Special thanks to Sober, AlphaTheta, and 1.618 Roastery for making this unique deck experience possible. The event proved that DJ culture can be accessible, fun, and enjoyed by all in everyday spaces.
