Rock Fest Music Competition 2026 Celebrates Young Musicians at Sunway University

The Rock Fest Music Competition 2026 Kuala Lumpur Preliminary Round was held from 30 May to 1 June 2026 at Sunway University, Kuala Lumpur, bringing together Rockschool students, music teachers, parents and young performers for three days of competition and live music.

The event provided students with a professional platform to perform in front of judges and audiences, demonstrate their musical development and work towards receiving awards, certificates and recognition for their achievements.

Student Music Competition and Performances

The main highlight of Rock Fest 2026 was the wide range of student performances across different instruments, age groups and competition levels.

Participants competed in categories including:

  • Drums
  • Vocals
  • Classical and contemporary piano
  • Violin
  • Ukulele
  • Acoustic guitar
  • Electric guitar
  • Bass guitar
  • Teens band
  • Adults band

Each participant had the opportunity to present a prepared performance and demonstrate their technique, musical expression, confidence and stage presence.

The preliminary round also allowed Rockschool students to apply what they had learned during their music lessons in a formal performance environment.

Awards, Certificates and Recognition

Rock Fest 2026 was not only about competition—it was also a celebration of each student’s effort, progress and commitment to music.

Participants were evaluated according to their respective categories and levels, with awards and certificates presented to recognise their achievements.

Receiving recognition at the competition encouraged students to continue improving while giving teachers and families an opportunity to celebrate the performers’ musical development.

Band Performances and Teamwork

The final day of the event featured teens and adults band categories, where participants performed together as complete musical groups.

These performances highlighted the importance of teamwork, communication, timing and stage coordination. Students had to listen to one another, maintain their individual roles and work together to deliver a complete live performance.

The band categories also created an energetic atmosphere and gave students valuable experience performing in a professional concert-style setting.

Musical Instrument Exhibition by LBS Music World

Alongside the competition, LBS Music World operated a musical instrument exhibition booth where students, teachers and visitors could explore products from brands including NUX, JOYO, Swiff Audio and Dhatarattha.

The display featured digital drums, digital pianos, keyboards, electric guitars, acoustic guitars, electric basses, amplifiers, speakers, wireless systems, guitar effects and multi-effects processors.

The booth provided an additional learning experience for participants by allowing them to discover different instruments and music equipment before or after their competition sessions.

Hands-On Instrument Experience

Students were encouraged to try the instruments available at the booth and explore products beyond their usual area of study.

Visitors had the opportunity to play NUX digital drums, digital pianos and keyboards, as well as electric guitars, acoustic guitars and bass guitars.

Guitarists could also test different amplifiers and effects pedals to explore a variety of tones suitable for practice, recording and live performances.

Featuring the New NUX MG-50Li

One of the featured products at the exhibition was the NUX MG-50Li Amp Modeler and Multi-Effects Processor.

Students and guitar players were able to experience its amplifier models, effects and performance functions while testing it with the electric guitars available at the booth.

The MG-50Li attracted interest from musicians looking for a flexible guitar effects solution for home practice, studio recording and stage performances.

Supporting Music Education and Young Talent

Rock Fest Music Competition 2026 successfully created a meaningful platform for Rockschool students to perform, compete and gain recognition for their musical achievements.

The event allowed participants to build confidence, develop stage experience and connect with other young musicians who share the same passion.

LBS Music World was pleased to support the event through its musical instrument exhibition and hands-on product experience. We would like to thank the Rock Fest organisers, Sunway University, teachers, parents and students for making the Kuala Lumpur Preliminary Round a memorable celebration of music education and young talent.
