The Superlux HD668 is a semi open budget monitoring headphone. It has aspects of the AKG and audio-technica headphones. The HD668B has a ‘wing’ headrest system and a replaceable cable. It has been around since 2013. The headband padding is soft and covered with a smooth plastic with regular foam inside. The ‘wings’ have their own spring wires which make the headphone rest on the sides of the head instead of the top of the head. This type of headband does not work equally well for everyone.The wings can be adjusted in position a bit by pulling them more towards each other. This shifts the point where the small cushions sit on the head (more sideways or towards the top of the head). There is thus no manual height adjustment and has to rely on the ‘auto-height’ adjustment of the HD668B ‘wing system’ and the clamping force.The cups can tilt enough and swivel enough so a decent fit is possible on most heads.The cable is replaceable. There is a short ‘dongle’ with a 3.5mm TRS jack hanging out of the left cup. The HD668B comes with 2 different length (extension) cords of 1m and 3m length. A 6.3mm push-on adapter is supplied with it. The cable is microphonic so touching the cable is audible in the left cup.
